In addition to serving as project coordinator throughout the process of acquiring U.S. Customs clearing services, VRA was also hired by Montgomery County, TX to rebrand the airport. The airport was formerly known as Lone Star Executive Airport. Due to the lack of location recognition in the airport’s name, VRA recommended a name change to Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport. The name change was approved. VRA also determined the image of the airport would need to change to attract the desired target audience groups that would be utilizing the state-of-the-art Customs facility being built. The image change began with a new logo that was designed by VRA in-house graphic designers.
At the end of the construction phase, VRA planned and implemented a grand opening event where elected city, county and federal government officials; CBP officials; media; local Houston associations and organizations; and additional stakeholders were invited to tour the new facility. VRA was responsible for design of the save the date and invitation; database creation and management; media coordination; the development of press releases as well as articles sent to aviation magazines; catering coordination; and day-of setup for the tents, chairs, podium, food, etc.
